City’s Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve offers informal trading opportunities

The City of Cape Town’s Biodiversity Management Branch is providing an opportunity for local informal traders to showcase and sell their products at the City managed Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve. The City is calling on all registered traders, especially those from the neighbouring communities in Atlantis, Pella and Mamre to apply for this opportunity by 9 December 2021.
The Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve staff are encouraging the local communities to participate in this informal trading initiative, especially those traders who offer locally produced and homemade goods. Residents should make the most of this opportunity and are requested to spread the word about the informal trading market so that this initiative can be a success and a tool to boost the local economy in the area.
The informal trading application forms need to be submitted to the reserve staff by 9 December 2021. Applications must include photos and a complete product description of what the trader will have on offer. Preference will be given to informal traders living or working in the Atlantis, Mamre and Pella area, and who produce locally handmade and art-crafted products that show creativity and originality.
The City managed Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve offers traders and visitors a beautiful venue in a scenic setting. This location also provides traders with an opportunity to market their goods to visitors who come to spend the day at the Atlantis Dunes. Traders will be able to operate from the Witzands Aquifer Reserve facility daily between 08:00 and 16:00, including on weekends.
Trading permits will be granted once the applications are approved. Reviews on all traders will be done on a month-to-month basis.

Traders and visitors must note that all Covid-19 protocols and regulations must be adhered to and no person will be allowed entry to the reserve without wearing a mask.
